My surgery went well. Between my surgeon and plastic surgeon it only took 4 hours instead of the estimated 5 hours I was originally told. The first thing I remember when I opened my eyes in the recovery room was seeing my daughter Megan, cousin Melanie, Kelli and Kelsi standing at the foot of my bed smiling at me! It was cute! I don't remember much, but I do remember starting to cry and waving my hands over my chest "The cancer is gone!" What a relief to know the tumor was out of my body and that the surgery went well and my lymph nodes looked clear. That means the cancer hadn't spread. I went into this praying for the best and preparing for the worst. I feel blessed that the surgery went so smoothly. I know I had the right surgeons and they took good care of me. Although I knew there was a chance I would have to lose my nipple, the biopsy came back clear and I was able to keep it. I remember peeking in my shirt to see if they were there. They were! And now let the healing begin!`
